Chair Announcement
The National Art School would like to express its deepest gratitude to Jeff Weeden, whose one-year term as Chair of the NAS Board concludes on 31 May 2026.
Jeff has provided outstanding leadership as Chair. His achievements include oversight of the new five-year strategic vision, strong representation of the School with external stakeholders and demonstrated careful stewardship of organisational governance and integrity. He has also played a critical role in strengthening and positioning the NAS Foundation for future success, including fostering stronger collegiate relationships between the NAS Board and Foundation. During his time as Chair, NAS also successfully launched the new BFA (Honours) course.
We are delighted that Jeff will continue to serve as a Board Director. He has been an invaluable member of the NAS Board for almost seven years, including serving as Chair of the Finance and Audit Committee. At all times he has shown deep commitment to securing a strong future for the National Art School.
At the same time, we are pleased to announce and warmly welcome Bruce Solomon as incoming Chair of the NAS Board, effective 1 June 2026. Bruce joined the NAS Board of Directors in May 2024 and has served as Chair of both the Finance and Audit Committee and the Property and Assets Committee.
Bruce is Founder and Director of Solotel Hospitality Management, Trustee of the Lady Mary Fairfax Estate, and a Director of the Bundanon Trust Board. He has supported the National Art School since 2018 through the Lift Off Award, which fosters the career development of emerging artists. He is also a passionate art collector of more than 40 years.
We look forward to welcoming Bruce as our new Chair and working closely with him and the Board Directors to realise our vision and strategy for the School.
Please join us in thanking Jeff for his remarkable service as Chair and welcoming Bruce to his new role.
