Art Forum: 2027 Firstdraft Callout Q&A

Tuesday 21 July 2026
12:45 PM - 1:30 PM
Cell Block Theatre
156 Forbes Street Darlinghurst, NSW 2010 Australia

Firstdraft is one of Australia’s oldest Contemporary Arts Organisations, platforming early-career artists since 1986. In the last few years the organisation has transitioned from an Artist-Run model to a professional, fully-staffed organisation dedicated to contemporary emerging voices. Firstdraft is currently accepting proposals for the 2027 program from artists, curators, and artist-run-initiatives (ARIs). This session will be introduced by a brief overview of the various callouts but is mostly designed to allow attendees to ask questions about the application process. Attendees are invited to bring questions and queries about the application process to be discussed in a conversational setting.  Students and faculty of any stages in their practice are invited to attend.

This session will be facilitated by Harry De Vries and Caity Reynold.

HARRY DE VRIES is an artist and researcher working and living on Gadigal land. He joined Firstdraft as their Communications & Engagement Manager in 2026. He holds a BFA and MFA from the National Art School, Sydney.

CAITY REYNOLDS is a practising artist, writer and curator. Prioritising empathy and compassion, she is committed to equity and the pursuit of sustainable working practices for artists and art workers. In 2016 she co-founded Outer Space Contemporary Art in Brisbane alongside Llewellyn Millhouse where they worked together as co-directors until 2020. During this period, she also worked as a sessional academic at Griffith University, Queensland College of Art and across the Moreton Bay Regional Council, Museum and Gallery Network. She joined Firstdraft after living and working
