Tallulah Stein

Tallulah Stein is an Australian contemporary artist whose practice explores colour, perception and the relationship between artwork and viewer. Working primarily with screen printing, she creates layered colour fields and gradients that investigate the sensory and optical qualities of colour. Informed by the Australian landscape, her work draws on the shifting light, atmosphere and subtle chromatic transitions of the natural environment. Through repetition, mirroring and layering, Stein creates visual rhythms and a sense of movement that extends beyond the individual print. Presented as a sequence across space, the works build a larger, continuous image, pushing the boundaries of traditional printmaking through the relationship between image, space and viewer. Inviting slow looking and contemplation, she encourages viewers to consider how colour is perceived and experienced through the body and within space, inviting slow looking and contemplation.
