Sarah R. Serfati
Sarah R. Serfati (b. 2004) is an Eora-based artist whose practice considers sites and symbols as platforms to surface patterns of erasure within the context of a colonised world system. Learning from displacement and the enduring realities, memories, and histories of local and international sites, Serfati aims to create pathways to reorient, reflect, and resist.
During her investigations, Serfati engages with archival materials, public records, and conservation documents, adopting an interdisciplinary approach that extends into Serfati’s studio space. While working across digital media, including 3D modelling, photography, and video, Serfati also explores impermanent sculptural installations utilising found glass, salt, and sand. These temporary installations centre decolonial methodologies and non-linear, cyclical attitudes to time and space, reflecting on knowledges from peoples of diaspora
