Madison Scott

Madison Scott’s practice explores philosophical propositions surrounding what constitutes art and the art object through processes of unrestricted play. Through subtle and sustained sculptural experimentation, commonplace objects are repurposed and reassigned, allowing new ontological possibilities to emerge. Piss, animal lard, soap, beeswax, and bitumen all become used materials through which personal and collective understandings of matter are interrogated, shifting between the debased and the elevated.
