Jack Oliver Owen
Jack Oliver Owen (b. Essex, England) is a Sydney-based multidisciplinary artist completing Honours at the National Art School. Working across photography, expanded print media, drawing and installation, his practice explores intimacy through slow, haptic looking. ‘Boys in Bedrooms’ photographs friends in their private bedrooms, spaces seldom seen by others. Each room is read as an expression of self, with the camera a means of admission. The work considers what a room says about the person who keeps it and what a visitor can observe there.
In 2026 Oliver Owen presented the solo exhibition ‘Dissecting Queer’ at Queer Contemporary for Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras. He is the overall winner of the 2026 BentArt Annual and a recipient of the Brandon Trakman Prize and the Jenny Robinson Print Studio Prize and Residency. He is a founding member of the artist-run initiative Pinpoint.
