Isabelle Lee

Isabelle Lee is a multi-disciplinary artist based on Gadigal Land, whose practice explores the interconnectedness of place and memory, with a materiality centred around porcelain, ash glaze and wax. Her process is akin to material “transmutation”; a small porcelain tile changes into a sun-filled portal. The memory of the place is evoked, triggered, illuminated showing its ash trace. Lee is also interested in the connection of bodily memory to place, exploring performance video art and photography within her practice. These works enable a form of autotheoretical storytelling — one of autonomy, re-performance and intimacy.
