Bethany Shanahan
Bethany Shanahan is an artist based on Gadigal land, whose practice explores the everyday, focusing on the infraordinary. Through drawing, walking, and a fondness for office supplies, she attends to the small, easily overlooked parts of everyday life. She enjoys long walks, telling ‘your mum’ jokes, pencil and paper, and the futile attempt to remember the world around her. Her work considers humour and memory, asking how ordinary moments are noticed and remembered. Shanahan is completing an MFA in Drawing at the National Art School, following a BFA in 2023. She received the 2026 Mark Henry Cain Memorial Travel Scholarship.
