Sailor Kennard
Sailor Kennard is an artist who resides and works on the traditional land of the Gadigal people of the Eora Nation. Through slight displacements, modest gestures, and subtle alterations to familiar materials and environments, Kennard asks how little might need to be added to the world to appreciate and highlight what is already there. In doing so, her work renegotiates where and how value is placed, offering ways to reconsider our relationships to site, material and the seemingly insignificant. Rather than transforming the ordinary beyond recognition, Kennard allows things to remain close to what they already are, gently shifting the conditions through which they are encountered. Kennard was awarded the Bonner and Tonkin Drawing Prize in 2025. She completed a Bachelor of Fine Art in Painting at the National Art School in 2022.
