nikita lelu

nikita lelu (b. 1985, Boorloo/Perth) is a Gadigal/Sydney-based artist working across sculpture, performance and videography. Her practice embodies violence, exploring transgender rage, defiant exposure and intimacy as forms of corporeal resistance. Refusing categorisation and embracing unintelligibility, lelu claims monstrosity as a site of power. Recent exhibitions include Campbelltown Arts Centre (2025, 2026), Belconnen Arts Centre (2025) and Hurstville Museum & Gallery (2026). She curated the National Art School’s first transgender artists’ group exhibition, Please Shit in My Mouth: trans musings on cis-het fetishism (2026). lelu received the Clitheroe Foundation Scholarship (2026), and she holds degrees in drawing, ceramics and acting.
