Mia Lazarus

Mia Lazarus (b. 2003, Johannesburg) is a Sydney-based abstract painter whose practice is deeply intuitive and process-driven. She completed her undergraduate studies and continued into Honours at the National Art School. Lazarus has exhibited across Sydney, including a solo exhibition at Tyger Gallery in 2025, and her work is held in private collections internationally. Influenced by the flux of her environment, her practice explores colour, materiality and the relationship between intuition and control. Through pouring, mark-making and layering, her paintings develop through cycles of action and response, allowing chance, material behaviour and intervention to shape an evolving visual language.
