Alice Royds

Alice Royds is a multidisciplinary artist practicing on Gadigal land at the National Art School. Her practices centres around ceramics and quilt making practices to create a series of ceramic quilts. Various clay bodies immortalise delicate patterns of lace and fabric, embellished further with bright patterns in underglaze. Each ceramic quilt manifests care through honouring relationships and sites of love. This is a homage to the quilt making traditions of women through history, whose quilts dignified friendships and provided protective warmth.
