Enrolment

  • Enrolment in a program is only secure when payment is completed online, a receipt is issued to the email provided, and a completed Consent Form has been received by NAS.
  • Other forms of payment and enrolment do not immediately confirm placement into a course, in these cases, a confirmation of registration will be sent by mail or email. Placement on a waitlist also does not guarantee enrolment.
  • Although an enrolment is secured once a receipt is issued, course confirmation is subject to adequate subscription and other factors see Changes to, and Cancellation of Courses.
  • Enrolments are not transferable.
  • Cash payments are not accepted.
  • Part-payments or partial enrolments are not accepted.
  • Eligible concession card holders must bring their proof of eligibility to their first class, or if an Alumni, NAS will check for your eligibility in our system prior to your first class. Please see Concession Fees for further details.
  • NAS has the right to exclude or remove a participant from the course if a consent form has not been provided by a parent/​ caregiver, if the participant breaches NAS safety guidelines or is continually late or disruptive.
  • All guardians a required to provide permission in writing for their children to leave campus at the end of a program session.
  • NAS provides supervision during course hours only. NAS will only release children to nominated parents/​ caregivers, unless prior arrangements have been specified upon enrolment.
  • All teachers and staff who deliver the school holiday program are skilled professionals and hold current Working with Children checks.

Fees

  • Fees for Public Programs provide tuition, facilities and in some instances, limited course materials. Refer to individual course descriptions for specific inclusions/​exclusions.
  • Early Fee: The early fee is a 10% discount* to encourage early enrolments, the period this discount is available is at the National Art School’s full discretion.
  • Concession Fee: A reduced (5% off*) Concession price is available to holders of a current Centrelink concession card, a NSW travel concession as defined by Transport for NSW, or are an Alumni of NAS as defined: Graduates of the NAS holding a degree, diploma or certificate of the NAS, including graduates of the art department of East Sydney Technical College, Sydney Technical College and Alexander Mackie College of Advanced Education (between 1975 – 1977); and former students who have successfully completed at least one year of full-time study on any of the award courses included above.
  • Eligible concession card holders must bring their proof of eligibility to their first class, or if an Alumni, our Alumni Coordinator will check for your eligibility in our system prior to your first class.
  • Concession card holders and Alumni are also entitled to a further discount via the Early fee from Winter School 2016 onwards.
  • Fees for School Holiday Programs provide tuition, facilities and course materials. Refer to individual course descriptions for specific inclusions/​exclusions.

Admission Requirements

  • Pre-requisite academic qualifications are not needed for enrolment into a NAS Public Program, unless specified in the course description.
  • In addition, programs or courses may be marked with Beginner, Intermediate, or Advanced to indicate the skill level recommended to succeed in a particular program or course. An individual’s skill level is self-diagnosed, and the NAS do not take any responsibility for poor course selection.
  • All Public Programs are available to anyone over the age of 16 years, and as such, all teachers and staff who deliver Public Programs must hold current Working with Children checks.

Changes and Cancellations

  • The National Art School reserves the right to cancel or postpone any course due to under subscription or for any other reason at the discretion of NAS.
  • In such cases, the Public Program Office will contact the relevant students who will be given the opportunity to either transfer to another available course with no administrative penalty, or receive a full refund.
  • NAS reserves the right to amend any course, schedule, location or teacher listed online or in the brochure before or during the course.

 

Refunds

  • The National Art School (NAS) requires 7 days’ notice before the commencement date of a course to withdraw or transfer from the course.
  • Requests for transfers or withdrawals must be made in writing to the Public Programs Administrative Officer at shortcourses@​nas.​edu.​au
  • There are no refunds, transfers, or substitutions within the 7 days prior to the date the of course commencement.
  • No refunds, transfers or credits will be provided if a student requests to cancel or reschedule their enrolment for any other reason after the commencement date of a course.
  • If a student fails to attend one or more classes or the whole course, no refund or transfer will be provided.
  • NAS does not accept responsibility for changes to students’ personal or work circumstances.

Transfers

  • The National Art School requires 7 days’ notice before the commencement date of a course to transfer from a course.
  • Requests for transfers must be made in writing to the Public Programs Administrator at shortcourses@​nas.​edu.​au
  • There are no refunds, transfers, or substitutions within the 7 days prior to the date the of course commencement.
  • If you wish to transfer your enrolment to an alternative class, and have provided sufficient notice, outside of 7 days before course commencement, no fees will be incurred. However, payment will be required for any difference in the cost of the course. Alternatively, a refund will be provided should the cost of the course be less than the original course cost.
  • Transfers are only allowed into courses currently available on the NAS website, where places are available.
  • In the event of multiple requests for enrolment transfers, a $50.00 administrative fee will be deducted from the amount of the credit value. Students will be notified if this charge will be applied.

Withdrawals

  • The National Art School requires 7 days’ notice before the commencement date of a course to withdraw from the course.
  • Requests for withdrawing must be made in writing to the Public Programs Administrative Officer at shortcourses@​nas.​edu.​au
  • There are no refunds, transfers, or substitutions within the 7 days prior to the date the of course commencement.
  • All course withdrawals incur a $50.00 administrative fee; this will be deducted from the amount being refunded.

Illness notification

We understand that sickness does not always allow for 7 days’ notice to be provided as outlined above. To request consideration for a refund on the grounds of illness please note the conditions below.

  • Notice of absence due to illness must be given prior to the commencement date of the course.
  • Students must advise of illness in writing to the Public Programs Administrative Officer at shortcourses@​nas.​edu.​au
  • All course withdrawals requested on the grounds of illness, requested after the 7‑day notice window, will be charged at 50% of the class fee. This will be deducted from the amount being refunded.


Cancelled courses

  • The National Art School endeavours to run all the classes as scheduled, however, on rare occasions, classes may be cancelled due to low numbers or other unforeseen circumstances beyond NAS’s control. In this eventuality, students will be reimbursed the full course cost, or transferred to an alternative class, according to the students’ preference.

Parking

  • There is no student parking available on campus. Metered parking is available in the streets neighbouring the National Art School. Students with large or heavy materials e.g. Large canvases, heavy metals, may enter the campus by car to drop off and pick up their materials, but must then park off-campus.
  • For any other special parking needs please contact the Public Programs Office via shortcourses@​nas.​edu.​au prior to the commencement of the course. In exceptional circumstances, parking may be permitted on campus with the provision of a medical certificate.

Online Forms 

  • As part of the Short Courses, images of students and/​ or their works are taken as a record of the program. Some of these images may be used in brochures, or promotional material regarding the course by the National Art School or sponsors associated with the program and /​or in other professional development and promotional material.
  • Not every image from this project will be published and work samples may not appear in exactly the same form in which they are submitted. The images will be retained for possible future use in other projects and publications.

Note: As a Condition of Enrolment, consent is implied. Please notify us in writing if you do not wish for us to take and use photos of students and/​or their works.

Student’s work, photographs or video image in publications

All students must comply with health and safety regulations. Potential participants and students must notify the Head of Public Programs via shortcourses@​nas.​edu.​au of any existing medical conditions or disabilities that may affect participation in a course.
