The Position
As part of the Student Services & Wellbeing team, the Student Support Assistant will be a first point of contact for general welfare and academic enquiries from students and staff. They will also support student engagement and equity through the development and maintenance of support arrangements for students with additional needs. The position holder will work closely with the Senior Student Wellbeing Officer to ensure a consistent and effective response to students experiencing difficulties.
What you bring to the role
You bring a strong student-centred, trauma-informed approach to supporting diverse learner needs, with the ability to act as a trusted first point of contact for wellbeing, accessibility, and academic support. You have experience providing clear guidance and referrals, contributing to the development and implementation of academic support plans and reasonable adjustments, and offering ongoing administrative and engagement support to promote student participation and retention. You are confident responding to student wellbeing concerns, including incidents requiring escalation, and work collaboratively with academic and professional staff to enhance accessibility and progression. You demonstrate excellent organisational skills, maintain accurate and confidential records, and effectively use student systems to support outcomes. Committed to equity, inclusion, and respectful practice, you actively engage in professional development, contribute to team operations, and uphold policies and procedures across all aspects of your work.
