NAS NEO

THE FUTURE OF NOW ON GADIGAL LAND

THURSDAY 28 APRIL

6 – 10PM

The National Art School is excited to announce NAS NEO, a new after-hours program that will bring together critical and progressive arts practice across inclusive and diverse platforms.

NAS NEO is a series of weekly multidisciplinary, artist-driven cultural events in collaboration with the next generation of change-makers, innovators and creators.

NAS NEO PRESENTS: TEDxSydney Ideas Search 2022

Cell Block Theatre

6 – 8pm

Join us at the TEDxSydney’s Ideas Search Event to hear fresh ideas from those vying for a chance to speak on the TEDxSydney main stage.

Each year TEDxSydney receives hundreds of submissions from people keen to step on to the red X and deliver a talk. This is your chance to be in the room as they make their pitch in 3 minutes or less with the TEDxSydney curatorial team deciding who might make it to the main stage.

This is the first TEDxSydney in person event for the year and we’re thrilled to be hosting it live at the Cell Block Theatre.

NAS NEO PRESENTS: GRUMBLISM

BETTY GRUMBLE, STEREOGAMOUS, NA NA MISS KOORI, FETU TAKU, MALAIKA MFALME & DEMON DERRIERE

8 – 10pm

Join performance critter Betty Grumble for GRUMBLISM: A pleasure seeking party and performance art-ing poesis. Step into a night of high vibrational heart stuff, a place to move and be moved by cross-discipline makers and shakers. To quote high priestess of poetry and butch queen Candy Royalle — ’ This Gathering, Every Gathering Is Saced — Listen.’ GRUMBLISM is a dancefloor, a soft kiss, a listening body and a mantric wish for Thank You Body.

Artists: Stereogamous, Na Na Miss Koori, Fetu Taku, Malaika Mfalme & Demon Derriere.

As artists we make work as spiritual access points. We celebrate performance as a sacred shared experience. We love to see and be seen. We straddle club n’ club, gallery and gutter. It is all a shrine to us. We challenge the idea that our bodies do not belong to us, we vibrate together to be in concert with our eco grief, dreams and protest. We love art as a site that is restorative and believe deeply in the power of the collective experience to transform, transmute and transgress. We Grumble, Rumble & Tumble together! YES! Thank YOU Body!
