NAS NEO is art in motion.

Join us for NAS NEO’s June edition as we take you through the world of printmaking with In Print’. With live music, art, performances, workshops, and much more, NAS NEO is Sydney’s hottest art after-hours event.

Battlesnake Headline Performance: 7:40 – 8:30pm.

Fresh off the back of supporting Kiss on their Australian tour, Battlesnake are charging into NAS NEO as our headline act on June 8. With tunes like I am the Vomit’ and Nightmare King”, this is a psychedelic rock experience you do not want to miss.

Disco Purgatorio Drag Performances: 6:45 – 7pm Set I & 9:20 – 10pm Set II.

We’re also hosting drag performances by Monika Cantucci, Nishtara and godofsexkingofacid aka Disco Purgatorio. There will be ensemble numbers and solo moments with original screen-printed costumes, instruments, and 70’s vibes.

Free Printmaking Workshops: 6 – 9pm

Under Pressure’ Collage Printing with Tristan Chant.

Tristan is a contemporary artist represented by Blackart Projects who uses collage and the pressure transfer of the screen to understand contemporary image saturation. He will unpack this practice materially by offering the public to engage with his imagery on silk screens, helping them recombine them into their own image response. Ink is transferred through the screen using print in an open and experimental way to reflect on the images we consume. Participants are invited to BYO t‑shirt to use in this interactive workshop.

The Act of Trace’ Frottage with Marcus D Harrison.

Marcus D Harrison is an artist who uses trace processes of frottage and image transfer to construct new ways of seeing the places we live in. This workshop will make rubbings from sites at the National Art School to allow the public to feel history in a direct haptic process – using print’s capacity to make trace copies of things to feel and sense the world.

nine: Library Stairwell Gallery: 6 – 10pm

The Library Stairwell Gallery presents nine, a NAS MFA1 Painting show featuring the work of Alice Xu, Brooke Marchel, Criena Court, India Swinton, Julie Edgar, Lara Peach, Mason Mulholland, Matthew Harrison, Oliver Abbott.
