Talk by curators Katrina Cashman and Lucy Latella about The Neighbour at the Gate

Led by Wardani (Nyoongar) and Badimaya (Yamatji) woman and senior curator Clothilde Bullen OAM, and a curatorium comprising senior curator Micheal Do and Whadjuk Balladong and Willman Nyoongar artist and curator Zali Morgan, this world premiere exhibition brings together new works by leading Australian artists Jacky Cheng, Elham Eshraghian-Haakansson, Dennis Golding (Kamilaroi/​Gamilaraay), Jenna Mayilema Lee (Gulumerridjin (Larrakia), Wardaman, KarraJarri), James Nguyen and James Tylor (Kaurna, Thura-Yura language region). The exhibition unravels the impacts of colonisation, race and ethnicity between and within First Nations and Asian Australian peoples, whilst highlighting the contemporary and historical parallels and connections between these communities.

Art Forum

The NAS Art Forum is a weekly public lecture intended to enrich the school community with contributions by guest speakers on a broad range of subjects considered to be of interest to NAS staff, students and the public.

Previous speakers have included notable art industry professionals on subjects covering visual arts, cultural theory and humanities.

NAS Forum lectures are held Wednesday lunchtime from 12.45 – 1.30pm during teaching weeks.
