In 2020, NAS Drawing lecturer Charles Cooper commenced work on a publication documenting five exhibitions of his work, mainly paintings, between 2003 and 2016. The text by artist, writer and fellow Drawing lecturer Joe Frost, which traces the evolution of Cooper’s art before and during this period, grew into a 160-page book, designed by NAS alumnus Brendan O’Donnell.

In this Artforum session, Joe will talk with Charles about the two-year process of creating Charles Cooper – On Location and the work it examines, a project initiated with the support of a NAS staff development grant.
