This talk will take you through the various ways that artists are engaged to make public art, including EOI’s, curatorial recommendation and direct commissions. Speaking from an industry perspective, Tilt Industrial Design Director Tim Phillips and Senior Curator Matt Cox will unpack the processes of engagement, design and fabrication of public art.

Tim is a highly regarded industrial designer who specialises in design consulting for the built environment. He has extensive experience in public art and placemaking projects, and a passion for using the latest technologies, materials and manufacturing techniques to create more livable cities. Through Tilt’s expertise in public art, Tim helps clients bring their creative visions to life.

Matt is a highly accomplished academic and curator with more than a decade experience working as curator of Asian and Contemporary art. At Tilt, he supports artists to ensure their creative vison is realised with integrity. With his appreciation of the way art can transform people and spaces, Matt plays a key role in shaping public artworks that enrich communities and enhance the urban environment.
