Join the new residential Art Camp at Mystery Bay. Spend three glorious days painting watercolours en plein air (outdoors) in the spectacular, natural landscape of Mystery Bay and its surrounds, Discover new ways to draw and paint the textures and colours of the ocean, crashing waves, sparkling water pools, ancient rock formations, dancing clouds, delicate foliage, hills, trees and much more.

Tanya Baily begins each session with a technical focus, giving demonstrations and practical exercises for you to experiment with a full range of traditional and contemporary watercolour techniques. She teaches you to make accurate drawings, with tips on rendering form, perspective. composition, and managing colour washes in wet-and dry across different papers. Colour mixing and its application will be of particular importance, with a focus on capturing the changing light at different times of day. Tanya introduces initial loosening-up, sketching techniques to capture what you see in a minimum of time, and how to use wash and line to best effect. Then you’ll make more sustained and completed watercolour paintings and learn ways develop your sketches in your home or studio.

Experience a variety of beautiful settings, with time to seek out your preferred views and subject matter, gaining confidence and knowledge of how to approach painting outdoors with watercolours.

This residential workshop is a wonderful place for beginners to start watercolour painting and ideal for more experienced artists wanting to expand their knowledge and skills, under the guidance of an experienced watercolourist. Become inspired by Tanya’s group critiques, one-to-one tuition in a fun and friendly group environment.
