course overview

Work directly from the figure to develop your observational skills and perceptual awareness as you learn about the fundamental elements of drawing from the nude life model. Explore the balance between observed figuration and abstract formal qualities, and compositional issues of form, space and body structure. Annelies Jahn introduces you to the concepts of figure and ground relationships and tonal constructs, and discusses the importance of gestural drawing techniques. She is mindful of each individual and encourages each student to use their unique capabilities to find expression, beauty and meaning in their work.
