Rose Morrison will induct you into Procreate with great detail, even if you have not painted/drawn or used Procreate before. She will teach you how to use Procreate’s digital layering and editing tools for endless creative possibilities. Learn to mimic traditional and contemporary fine art techniques in a digital realm using Procreates vast array of brush, painting and editing tools. In this step-by-step course you will learn the same techniques that you would need to create real life paintings, from the initial sketch composition, underpainting, choosing the right brush and brush economy. You will be able to apply these techniques to any style including figurative, landscape, abstract, Flora and Fauna. Finally, you will learn how to turn your digital artwork into fine art prints.

*Short courses are open to students of ages 16 years and over. For students under 16 years of age there are School Holiday Workshops, Art Club and other youth art programs.
Rose’s online studio course is taught using Procreate on an Apple iPad and Zoom running on a second computer. She steps you through class directions in real-time for the entire online studio session. She responds directly to students’ questions with live demonstrations and discussions. If you are unfamiliar with the Zoom program, some tutorial assistance is available prior to the commencement of the first session through NAS, to ensure you can join in with ease and get to know the online learning environment. Class sizes are limited to a maximum of ten students and the sessions are recorded allowing you to re-watch and practice what you have learnt.

You will need the following:
An Apple iPad or iPad Pro (running iPad OS 15 or later)
Apple Pencil 1 or 2 (full charged and paired to a compatible iPad)
The Procreate App installed (available from the App Store for $15).
For Zoom you will need a computer/laptop with a reliable, good quality, internet connection with working speakers and microphone.
1h of additional study time per week to complete class projects
Absolutely no previous Procreate or art experience needed!
The ability to use and navigate around basic iPad functions, including saving photos from websites and organise photos these using the built-in photos app is a must.
