Les Blakeborough

After a sell-out show of his student work, Les Blakebrough served an apprenticeship at Sturt Pottery, Mittagong NSW under Ivan McMeekin, and studied in Japan with Takeichi Kawai in 1963. He is the recipient of numerous awards, including a Churchill Fellowship in 1993–1994, an Australia Council Fellowship in 1998–1999, and many Australian Research Council Grants. In 2008 he was Senior Tasmanian of the Year, and was awarded an Australian Medal in 2013. Solo exhibitions include Bett Gallery, Hobart 2017; Beaver Galleries, Canberra 2016; Sturt Gallery, Mittagong 2014; BMG Gallery, Adelaide 2014; and Sabbia Gallery, Sydney 2014.
