Milan is home to the Pinacoteca di Brera, one of Italy’s most prestigious art galleries which contains a pivotal collection of Italian paintings from the 13th to the 20th century, including works by Caravaggio, Raphael, Mantegna and Piero della Francesa. It also shares history and a site with the Accademia, an art school not unlike NAS. As from September 2024, the Pinacoteca di Brera is also responsible for the management of Leonardo da Vinci’s Last Supper. Join us as we uncover the fascinating details of not only this esteemed institution and the current restoration of the Last Supper with visiting scholar Prof. Chiara Rostagno.

Chiara Rostagno is Deputy Director of the Pinacoteca di Brera in Milan, Head of Strategic Directional Projects and Curator of the Sculpture and Decorative Arts Department, as well as Executive Director of the National Museum of the Last Supper of Leonardo da Vinci. Rostagno is the author of more than 60 papers and publications and her latest book “Art and Nature. The Beauty of the Earth and Life”, is the result of more than two decades of research on issues of art and landscape conservation.

Now open in Building 25 Project Space — Liz Bradshaw `I didn`t expect to live this long`.

For this year`s Queer Contemporary, NAS alum Liz Bradshaw presents an exhibition of large-scale sculpture and installation works that offer a personal and political queering of time, space, materiality, and ideas. Integrating new works alongside a fragment of an artwork created at NAS in the 1990s, the installation folds together the artist`s personal experiences with the complex histories of the school`s site and the broader Darlinghurst area, which served as an epicentre of Australian queer history.

On view until 7 March. Monday to Saturday, 11am–5pm.

For this year's Queer Contemporary, NAS alum Liz Bradshaw presents an exhibition of large-scale sculpture and installation works that offer a personal and political queering of time, space, materiality, and ideas. Integrating new works alongside a fragment of an artwork created at NAS in the 1990s, the installation folds together the artist's personal experiences with the complex histories of the school's site and the broader Darlinghurst area, which served as an epicentre of Australian queer history.

In the gallery, different things become visible: form, discipline, lineage and the deep relationship to authorship and mark-making. Part of what the exhibition tries to do is hold those two value systems in tension rather than pretend one replaces the other.”
